Be More, Do More - Written When I Was 17

Updated: May 13, 2020

This is the most popular blog I have ever written.

Over 250,000 reads with 1,000+ RTs on Twitter.

This was back in 2016 when I operated large social media accounts. It was initially published on my old blog,

The blog, in letter form:

"to whom it may concern,

a letter to empower you to do great things in this life.

This is your life to live. Don’t ever settle for anything less than the best you can be. If you want to do something, you are 100% capable of doing that thing.

All my life, people have tried to tell me how I should live. They have attempted to lower my potential by telling me I couldn’t be the best at what I wanted to do. They have told me to be like all the other teenagers my age. They didn’t listen to me, my own thoughts and my ideas for things. They didn’t value my perspective. They think that I am crazy (well, I am a little crazy), but I will show them that I can be valuable. The people today in my life who tell me I won’t make it in this world will one day find satisfaction and pleasure that they ever knew me.

Kicking Off 2016

There are great things that I want to and will accomplish in this world. I have turned my ‘wants’ into ‘wills’ and my dreams into reality. Kicking off 2016, I have told myself I will BE MORE and I will DO MORE in this life. This won’t be any year for me, this will be a year that I will remember for the rest of my life. The year, I will find my purpose and my destiny. This year, I will raise my potential to be far better than what everyone else dreamed I could be. This year, I will become a part of something bigger, having a higher purpose in this life.

Find your life potential and find the reason you were put on this earth. Know your specific purpose and realize you are being empowered to do great things. When you have an idea for something, do not let someone tell you it’s a bad idea. Do not let someone tell you it’s not possible. One person’s opinion doesn’t matter as much when you realize there are 7.7B* opinions in this world. With hard work and persistence, anything is possible. Have the right mentality, knowing that you are the author of your own life. You can create your reality. You are the one having dreams. You are the one who can do great things in your life. Dream big.

Because if your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough. It takes people who dream so big they are looked at to be crazy to be the most successful, most happy, and most fulfilled people in this life. Success doesn’t have to be a measure of money. It’s a measure of how happy you are, the legacy you are creating, the impact and influence you have on people, and your great accomplishments in this life.

If you are upset that things aren’t going the way you want them to, know this — every extremely successful person started from nothing. They started from trial after trial in their lives. They started from insomnia, failure, lack of encouragement, lack of self-will, lack of support. But you know what separated them from the rest? Do you know what made them to be the most successful people in this life? They overcame all of those factors. They did not let all those deceitful lies of the world bring them down. They told themselves that they would bounce back from their failures and stand far taller than they did before.

You must know that the successful people I am talking about are weird. They are different. They were made fun of. They are unique. To create a powerful legacy and impact, to have a powerful influence on people, to lead people to success and happiness, to create wealth to provide for your families, to do amazing things in your life you cannot be another brick in the wall. You have to be the wall. You must realize you are not for everyone.

The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, will not like you. But it is also filled with those who will love you fiercely. They are your people. You are not for everyone and that’s okay. Talk to the people who can hear you. Surround yourself with people who will lift you up and provide mentorship to you to help you succeed. Create an inner circle of people who believe in you and want to see you happy and successful. You must realize that there are many people in your life who will not provide you with an affirming mentality and reinforcement. You’ve got to be strong and wise enough to let go of those people in your life. Don’t waste your precious time and gifts trying to convince them of your value, they won’t ever want what you’re selling. Don’t convince them to walk alongside you. You’ll be wasting both your time and theirs and will likely inflict unnecessary wounds, which will take precious time. You are not for them and they are not for you; politely wave them on, and continue along your way. Sharing your path with someone is a sacred gift, don’t cheapen this gift by rolling yours in the wrong direction.

For the most part of dreams, great ideas, or something someone wants to accomplish; you have to start somewhere. You aren’t supposed to make it overnight. You aren’t supposed to lose 20 pounds overnight. You aren’t supposed to become the fearless leader you aspire to be for your business or company instantly. It’s never too late to start but it is always too late to wait. If you just simply DO rather than sit around and think 'how can I do this?', you are just like everyone else in this world."
